Where to buy pmags now

In the aftermath of the first Gulf War, all the pilots in my unit ended up with new flight bags and sundry flying kit courtesy a fund site established by the Kuwaiti government. This unimaginably massive bag of money was designed to assist the U. Military in rebuilding itself after the war. The gear was legitimately used in the performance of our operational mission. Ours was a simply superb supply officer.

As it relates to PMAGs, it might take a little initiative to get these devices into the hands of our troops. As I understand it, magazines are considered expendable components of the M4 rifle system. The military burns through a lot of them as a result, particularly in combat. In many cases the automatic repurchase component of the military supply system might recharge a unit with legacy EPMs unless action is taken to update the National Stock Numbers to reflect the new PMAGs.

Any enterprising supply officers out there reading this might want to take note. EPMs are not bad. In fact, they are massively better than the crap-tastic antique Vietnam-era magazines we used to feed our weapons back when I wore the uniform and dinosaurs roamed the plains.

A failure every now and then gives us opportunity to practice our immediate action drills and look cool for the cute girls exercising their pink-framed carry guns on the adjacent lane.

However, if you are downrange for real and your weapon fails to fire, much more than that is riding on the affair. Magpul PMAGs are demonstrably more reliable than the EPM; that means there will be statistically fewer stoppages in combat with these new magazines. For purposes of clarity, I consent to Athlon's collection, storage, processing, and transfer of my Personal Data and Non-Personal Data as defined in the Privacy Policy for the purpose of signing up for the email newsletter.

For this reason, the manufacturer is commemorating the historic event with a Limited-Edition rifle. Comment s. It's a shame; I really like the Magpul company, for their products and also their stance with the leftist nuts that have taken over Colorado. The lower receiver is out of spec.

The bolt catch slot to magazine well spacing is off. I have an ar I built from a lower that was out of spec I had to file down the top of the receiver a bit to get the upper to seat.

My pmags work flawlessly in every other ar I've tried, but fail to lock the bolt back on the last round. No issue with the USGI. Am I throwing out my stockpile of pmags? Do I think they're crap? But since they seem to have stricter tolerances to make the rifle function properly I choose the USGI.

I actually called magpul when diagnosing the issue with my rifle and they were going to send me new followers for a bunch of mags I've had for over 5 years. So kudos to them. So far Lancers are my favorite, they seem to run well in both my 5. Shooting both calibers the transparent mags are nice for a quick check to make sure I'm not dropping. Surprisingly, my D60 drum fits perfectly with no mods.

I've heard the feed angle of the PMAGS works better in rifles without m4 feed ramps, not sure if that's true. I also run a lot of 20 round steel bodied E-landers, which have a terrible reputation here. But for me, they work, no failures. The only steel body 20 rounder I've ever found. Then pick the one that runs best, or you like best.

What works in my rifle may not work in yours, and vice versa. I'm not an engineer but I would closely look at your lower to see if it is possibly out of spec. I prefer and mostly use USGI mags but I also have gen m2 pmags and they work extremely well and haven't ever had an issue with them. My gen m2 pmags run extremely well. View Quote I've looked at this issue extensively prior to posting this.

Its been going on for a few months. When the bolt doesn't hold open, the tang on the bolt catch is behind the follower. Its as if the follower needs to be like 2mm longer. Whats really odd to me C product mag My concern is when I called them 2 days ago they of course opened an RMA I believe its called for me to send them back and inspect them. I wasn't planning to take that option because I guess I assume they'll get em, see no visible damage, follower raises lowers as should etc and nothing would be done.

Especially given how many people do use Pmags with 0 issue. I'll give it some thought. View Quote Good post! View Quote If I get a chance I will. However, as mentioned above And, the Magpuls now work since adding material to the front side of the follower which gives the follower less movement front to rear.

Prior to making this modification, the follower would sometimes catch, but most of the time not, all the while working successfully with aluminum ones. I know they are highly praised and do overcome other limitations as stated by others and other articles here. IF the polymer magazines have actual issues in the cold, then we can make the metal magazines part of a suite of cold-weather equipment along with snow shoes and overwhites.

Either of those NSNs are good in temps that people and weapons both stop working. The lengths the govt. The Army tried this ten years ago with the CW, too. The difference? Likely that the USMC cared about function above anything else. Would seem that most others would care about the same thing. Who likes their baby being called ugly? Glad to see this happen. Page 39 shows before and after images of the feed ramps and rear of the barrel to show the lack of wear on the M4A1 when using magazines from vendor Foxtrot, or Magpul.

The Air Force recently told Military. The test report appears to show that the Army knew that Magpul PMAGs was the top performer and still went out and developed its new Enhanced Performance Magazine, which the service introduced in Testing experts may see other noteworthy information in this document, but the fact remains: the Air Force used this report to choose PMAG and it remains unclear why the Army didn't do the same. It's also unclear why the Army decided to develop another version of same magazine design when soldiers have used PMAGs in their weapons in combat for years because of their proven reliability.
