Trained under the wisdom of his parents, Zak is able to preform gymnastic feats well beyond that of his peers. Home-schooled by his parents, Zak is well versed in a number of subjects; the most notable one being Cryptozoology.

The Claw is a device Zak carries on him at almost all times. After traveling the globe his entire life, the kid was bound to pick up a few tricks. Doc : Your mother has a theory. In every ancient legend, there's a balance. Or in terms I'm more comfortable with, for every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction. Your mother and I brought the potential for great evil into the world eleven years ago Drew: "You do realize that you just promised to buy him new butter?

Argost : My dear boy, you've lied to your parents, betrayed your own mother, and you're about to let the villain walk out of here so mummy and daddy don't learn the truth about our business relationship. I brought you here to discover a monster Congratulations on completing another lesson. Doc : You like making nightmares come true? Welcome to yours. Zak : They can tell us what they think we are [ Argost : I must confess: I always assumed your role on Team Saturday was as a kind of imbecile mascot.

Such hidden depths in you Mizuki : A very poor choice of words. They met when Zak was very young, only about four or five. Zak immediately welcomed Fisk to the family with open arms, helping him get comfortable around Komodo and covering for Doc when it looked like Fisk might get in trouble. Initially, he was very skittish and liable to run away at any loud noise, but Zak helped Fisk relax and open up, learning to trust again. Over the course of the series, Fisk and Zak often drag each other into all kinds of mischief and schemes, often switching off on taking the blame or blaming each other, depending on how angry their parents are.

They have a lot of fun together and Fisk is almost always glued to Zak's side. He is the only one that knows about Zak's deal with Argost for the entire time that it lasts. Fisk also tends to be overprotective, which annoys Zak, particularly when it gets in the way of helping the rest of their family. Despite Fisk's great love for his brother, he gets jealous and feels ignored when their parents begin hyper-obsessing on Zak's safety over anyone else's.

He also internalizes this mindset, believing Zak to be more important than him and sacrificing himself or putting himself in harm's way to save his brother.

Komodo Saturday is Zak's adopted brother and, in terms of behavior, comes across as the older brother. It's unknown how Komodo joined the Saturday family, but he was there before Fiskerton and Zak is very familiar with Komodo even in flashbacks, so it's likely that Komodo has been around since Zak was born, or possibly even before.

Zak seems to be the only member of the family that Komodo is affectionate with, as he is often snippy with Fisk or dismissive toward Doc and Drew. He will tackle-hug Zak and lick his face, not unlike a dog might. He has also been shown to sleep at the foot of Zak's bed. Zon Saturday is Zak's adopted sister and the newest addition to the Saturday family. Unlike Fisk and Komodo, who have spent about a decade living with the Saturday family, she is still new to domestication and tends to act more "animalistic" than Fisk and Komodo, although it does not make her any less intelligent.

She is very fond of Zak especially, possibly because she emprinted upon him after her nest was destroyed by the Saturday's airship when they first met her. While the rest of the family is important to Zon, she has a special relationship with Zak. He is the only member of the family that she has been seen hugging.

Likewise, Zak is a lot different with Zon than with Komodo or Fisk, often rewarding her for a job well-done with fish, and petting and cooing at her often.

Zak is also very protective of her, almost like a father might be. As shown in the episode The Underworld Bride , he gets agitated when he thinks she's being treated poorly and shows visible distress at the idea of never seeing her again. Zak will often fly Zon in fights or if he needs to get closer to a cryptid without the risk of being attacked. She comes when he whistles for her and seems only to take his command.

They are very in sync, as Zon hardly ever needs vocal cues from Zak. Doyle Blackwell is Zak's maternal uncle and, in a lot of ways, his role model. Despite the fact that Doyle was working for Van Rook at the time, Zak was nothing but enthusiastic at the idea of having a long-lost uncle.

At the end of the episode Van Rook's Apprentice , Zak still trusted Doyle, forgiving his apparent betrayal even if the rest of his family didn't. When Doyle was about to leave, Zak said, "We all make mistakes, but we have to forgive each other.

That's part of being a family. Although Doyle doesn't have a lot of experience with having a family or being a team player, he has a soft spot for Zak. Doyle likes Zak's reckless and daredevil nature, though he's still mindful of Zak's safety and general well-being.

He often hangs back to help Zak in fights or will use his jetpack to get Zak out of harms' way. Doyle isn't a good role model, but that doesn't stop Zak from wanting to impress him or be like him. Zak is always happy to see Doyle. It doesn't mean that Zak is above criticizing Doyle or admitting when he's done something wrong, such as in The Owlman Feeds at Midnight or The Kur Guardian , but he's a lot more forgiving and understanding of these things than his parents are.

Wadi is Zak's friend as well as his crush. Upon first meeting her in Eterno , Wadi was stealing from his family's car, so he obviously didn't consider her too favorably.

After helping each other to cure the salt spreading through water in the Middle East, Zak considers Wadi a friend. The next time that Zak and Wadi see each other, in Curse of the Stolen Tiger , they have developed a bit of a rivalry as well as a mutual crush on each other.

Zak denies this vehemently. He recognizes Wadi as skilled at what she does, hence his desire to surpass her and, of course, impress her. In the end, he looks like a fool in front of her anyway. It takes another year and a half or so for Zak and Wadi to meet up again. By the time that Life in the Underground rolls around, Zak is thirteen and has seemingly accepted his crush on Wadi.

He gets excited when Drew points out that Wadi has been flirting with him and blushes and smiles a lot around her. This has the side-effect of making their interactions awkward, as Zak tries not to single Wadi out with Ulraj around, but she doesn't seem to mind the awkwardness. Ulraj is Zak's best friend after Fiskteron. Their initial meeting was only out of convenience, in order to help Ulraj get his kingdom back and for Zak to rescue his parents from Argost.

During the process, they ended up hitting it off. Most of Ulraj and Zak's dialogue is them jabbing at each other, sometimes escalating to sparring in order to one-up the other. They appear to be evenly matched fighters. Ulraj does offer Zak advice on his cryptid powers, though, giving him a deeper understanding of how to communicate with cryptids other than simply attempting to exert his will over theirs. Their friendship is built off of mutual respect and, with that, a healthy, friendly rivalry.

Argost is Zak's arch-nemesis. Or, at least, Zak's biggest threat other than himself. Originally, Argost didn't consider Zak as anything special, other than perhaps a novelty for his "unusual gift," as he remarks upon seeing Zak's cryptid-influencing abilities for the first time.

Zak was a fan of Argost's T. Argost's Weird World , although he gradually loses his enjoyment of the program over the course of season one and is no longer even remotely interested by the beginning of season two. Argost has always gotten sadistic pleasure out of seeing Zak suffer, be it physical or mental.

He will often go out of his way to make things painful, especially in season two. As such, Argost spends all of season two manipulating Zak to eventually take Kur's powers for himself. Zak is fully-aware that he's being used, however, his desperation to control his abilities before he hurts anyone close to him outweighs the potential risks of letting Argost teach him.

Argost's lessons prove to be useful, as he teaches Zak how to connect to cryptids without making eye-contact and how to reach them from miles away. If expanded upon, these skills could lead Zak to control every cryptid on the planet. Some of Argost's lessons are less practical and more mental, as shown in Into the Mouth of Darkness. Argost spends the whole episode telling Zak about a monster hidden in the mines and lures him down there, putting Zak in a position where he has to betray his family in order to follow Argost.
